The global transition away from fossil fuel dependence to battery electric propulsion in yachts has certainly begun. Providing energy storage and propulsion technologies will be essential in creating viable alternative solutions.
In addition, these technologies are also capable of delivering the strategic aims of the marine sector which includes;
- creating a pathway to low carbon operations, transitioning away from fossil fuel dependency to increased energy independence, through the potential adoption of a range of emerging energy generation technologies
- increased energy density in yacht energy storage systems and the associated performance opportunities through weight and drag reduction
- increased digital integration of equipment and functionality providing for ‘smart’ systems capable of delivering labour saving (short-handed sailing) benefits.
